operation christmas tree. (peppermint hot chocolate)
I’m having such a nice day.
This morning I had a yogurt mess, with Stonyfield strawberry, chia seeds, banana, granola bar, oat squares and a smidge of pumpkin pie (shhhh).
After a bit of digesting, I headed to the gym and ran two miles on the track. Ugh. I hate counting laps. It makes it to where I can’t let me mind wander and solve problems. Counting laps is borrrring. And then I headed over to the free weights to do a quick strength circuit. Which was decidedly less boring.
Alright, it is official, I need a pair of Vibrams of my very own. I actually waited to go to the gym this morning until the Babyface was done with his run so I could wear his Vibrams. Note: crazy husband ran outside when it was 23°. My lungs can’t hand that crazy talk.
Refueled with some chocolate milk.
Protip: put down your chocolate milk before trying to remove Vibrams.
Post chocolate milk, got gussied up to head out in the Black Friday madness. We only had one goal: Christmas tree!
We were successful! Although it took some serious wedging to get the giant sucker into our little car.
While waiting for the tree to “air out,” we partook in a little peppermint hot chocolate while listening to the Swingin’ Christmas station on Pandora. Love.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
1/3 c. cocoa
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
3 c. nonfat milk
1/2 c. half and half
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
Heat cocoa, sugar, and water in a sauce pan over high heat. Bring to a boil and whisk constantly for 2 minutes. Reduce heat. Add milk, half and half and extract and cook until warmed through. Pour into 2-4 mugs (depending on size). Top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Seriously creamy and delicious. Have I mentioned how much I looovve Christmas?
Puppyface was interested. No hot chocolate for PFs.
Post hot chocolate, I spent a little bit hanging lights around our front windows. How did people hang Christmas lights before Command Hooks? Best invention ever. I’d love to show you how cute our windows look, but blogger safety 101 prevents me from showing off the front of our home. Trust me, it’s cute.
Now I’m noshing on a warm cozy bowl of leftover dumplins, enjoying our pine-scented living room, and contemplating a nap.
More decorating later and over the rest of the weekend. We’re waiting to light and ornament up the tree until tomorrow night. Giving the branches some time to stretch out before we attack it with the three giant boxes of Christmas ornaments we own. Happy Friday!
