Do I need to make the eggnog from scratch?

That is completely up to you! I prefer homemade eggnog because itโ€™s super simple to make, and it has an even richer taste than the stuff you find in stores. Making eggnog from scratch allows you to better control the ingredients, too. For example, if you have a dairy allergy, you can make a coconut milk eggnog thatโ€™s just as rich and tasty as the original. Of course, if youโ€™re short on time, you can always use your favorite store-bought eggnog to make your eggnog latte.

Can I use a mix of regular milk and eggnog?

Diluting the eggnog with milk takes away from the rich flavor of your homemade eggnog latte. Youโ€™re best off using pure eggnog to get the full range of spices itโ€™s so well known for.

Do I need an espresso maker?

You donโ€™t absolutely need an espresso maker for this eggnog latte recipeโ€”you can make it with strong black coffee instead. However, using a shot or two of espresso in place of black coffee really allows the flavor of the coffee to shine through so itโ€™s not overpowered by the eggnog and syrup. If you really want to replicate the coffeeshop lattes, I highly recommend investing in a Bialetti Express espresso machine. Itโ€™s a low investment for a fantastic cup of strong espresso.

Can I make a vegan version of this eggnog latte?
