things i’m digging…

1. Good food. Healthy food. Real food.

This past weekend was an eating disaster (holy dramatic, Batman). I try not to beat myself up over a gin and tonic here (yum) or a slice of birthday cake there (double yum), but when you combine all of that into one weekend plus add a dash of delivery pizza, a few beers and some Hollandaise sauce, it’s a recipe for trouble. By the time Sunday morning rolled around, I felt like I was hungover, even though I never got drunk! My body was craving nutrients and, boy, did I feel it. Healthy food is such an amazing thing. I sometimes forget how good it makes me feel, but then I have weekends like this and am quickly reminded how important the food I put into my body is. Real food, FTW!

2. Ultimate Direction Katoa Waist Pack.

I had a moment last week where I realized that I’d probably need to carry stuff during my 39.3 mile breast cancer walk next month. Duh. So I did some research and landed on this hydration waist pack. I didn’t want to have something on my shoulders for a marathon distance, and this seemed like a good compromise. I love how it fits and that the pack part is big enough to carry all the stuff I might need for 12 hours on the streets of Chicago (Body Glide, moleskin, extra socks, Nuun tablets, chapstick, cell phone, etc.) without being too big or bulky. I love the two water bottles, too. I plan on using one for straight water and the other for sports drink. Yay!

3. Sally Hansen Hard As Nails.

I’m trying to grow my nails out again, and this stuff is a must on my nails while they are long. It helps keep my nails from chipping or splitting. In fact, when some of it wears off, I can almost guarantee I’ll break that nail if I don’t reapply. Plus, the slight tint is a nice touch. I can wear it alone, or as a basecoat or topcoat. One of these days I’ll naturalize my nail care stuff, but for now, I’m sticking with this chemical-y classic.

4. Gilmore Girls.

I’ve watched the whole series from beginning to end at least three or four times, but I was in desperate need of some comfort TV this weekend and I turned it back on from the beginning. I love this show so much. It will always and forever be my favorite TV show. Even Babyface loves it! It never, ever gets old. Oy, with the poodles already!

5. Followgram.

I’m a big, huge, annoying fan of Instagram, but I’ve always disliked that it’s so smart-phone centric. I love my iPhone, but I know a lot of folks out there don’t use smart phones and since there are no online profiles, there were no ways to link to the photos I post. Then I found Followgram. You login with your Instagram credentials and then Followgram pulls all of your Instagram content into an online profile so you can link people to your photos and activity. Woohoo!

What are you digging?

  2. I’m always digging your Things I’m Digging posts! You always have the best things listed. From you I’ve learned about Pinterest before everyone else (May 2011), TeuxDeux (which has saved my butt with kid’s school reminders so many times), fun’s We Are Young (before it was on the radio every five seconds), The Vampire Diaries (yeah I watched the first two seasons on Netflix in one week, read season three recaps on Entertainment Weekly and then watched the last three episodes online in time to catch the season finale last week – and I’m 36 years old and can’t stop dreaming about Damon). Keep the great ideas coming!!!

    • Hahah, this comment is amazing. :) I’m so glad you like them!

  3. I love early Gilmore Girls. But really didn’t like how Rory changed when she met Logan, it was like a personal affront. I’m such a dork!

    I love your red highlights!!

    • I agree! I hate college Rory and I cannot stand the series finale, it makes me so angry every time I watch it. But only because I’m way too attached to the darn show.

  4. Love love Gilmore Girls. I keep asking Doug for more seasons on DVD. I only have 1 and 4 and I’ve watched them all SO many times, lol. I made a GG reference on facebook the other day, and I was pleased how many people got it. :) Copper boom!

  5. Thanks for another great “Things I’m Digging Post”! I always love these the most! I’m definitely marching myself to the Sally Beauty Supply Company after work and buying a bottle of the hard as nails! I have naturally fine hair, so it’s no surprise that my nails and flimsy and thin, too! This sounds like just the product I need to keep my puny nails from splitting every other day! Thanks, Cassie! :)

    • They also sell it at Kroger and CVS. I swear by the stuff. :)

  6. YES! “Things I’m Digging” and “Confessions” are my favorite!!
I use this nail stuff called “ibd Reconstrux” that i get from Bed Bath and Beyond to grow my nails- it’s the only stuff that works.

I’m an instagram addict! I’m going to try to find you- or find me! My name is OatmealLauren. I’m going to check out Followgram now, because I need to spend even MORE time on instagram…

  7. I love, love, love Gilmore Girls…my sister and I were avid followers for years! And I’m just itching to buy the complete set…even the folder itself is so cute! ;)

  8. I felt the SAME WAY this weekend. I hate so much bad food and I felt like crap on Sunday and yesterday. I feel much, much better today.

Also, every time I see pics of your hair, it makes me want colors again! Boo to working at an uber corporate place that probably would flip if I put anything fun in my hair.

I’ve been trying to figure out which one of the Instagram website sites I want to use! I had been using webstagram, but a lot of people seem to be talking about Followgram. I’ll have to give that one a shot.

I also love these posts :)

  9. I convinced my random sophmore roommate that Gilmore Girls was absolute quality. She went out and bought the whole series (on her own accord, I swear!) and we essentially had a match made in roommate heaven until we graduated. :)

  10. I LOVE Gilmore Girls. They were on sale two years ago for really cheap so I bought the entire series and watched it all straight through. I’ll likely do it again soon! SO great. :)
