things i’m digging…

1. My pool.

Okay, so as I’m sure you know, it’s been obnoxiously hot out. As in, hotter than I’ve ever seen before. But it’s been alright by me because I am the proud owner of a pool. And it’s amazing. So far, we’ve fallen into the routine of working really, really hard to check things off our to-do list in the morning and then spending all afternoon in the pool with beer. It’s pretty much the thing dreams are made of.

2. Cookie Butter.

I know I’m like 30 years late to the party, but I finally got to Trader Joe’s this weekend (more on that later today) and picked up some of Cookie Butter that everyone has been talking about for months. RIDICULOUS. I mean, how can something that doesn’t have any chocolate in it be this amazing?! Favorite use so far? Eating it with a spoon. Spreading it on a whole wheat waffle with peach fruit spread. Oh. Em. Gee.

3. Corona and Lime.

This photo is from our trip to the ocean, but you get the idea. See #1. I’m normally a much more of a micro-brewery fan, but Corona and Lime on a 105° day by the pool? Perfection. Although the New Albanian Black and Blue Grass is pretty high up there, too.

4. Our flags.

I’ve never had a place to hang flags before. I love that we have not one, but two poles to hang flags from on our house. Perfect for this week of country celebration! It makes me so happy to see the flags of both of our countries flying together.

5. Peach salsa.

I don’t really mean to link you back into the depths of my recipes, but if you saw this recipe and breezed past it because you thought it was an annoying fish recipe, I urge you to visit it again and MAKE THE SALSA. Kids, I’m serious. Go buy yourself some fresh peaches and make it. GO. NOW. If you are feeling a little caliente, chop up a jalapeno and mix it in. You will not be sorry.

What are you digging?

    • DONE.

  2. I love cookie butter. LOVE. I have everyone at work hooked too. One of my friends got some Pillsbury crescent rolls. Rolled them flat, spread on the cookie butter, rolled it up and baked it. It was like mini cinnamon rolls. :)

    • OH. That sounds just…dangerous. And amazing!

  3. Why haven’t zeen ze cookie butter at my Trader Joe’s? Making a trip this week.

    Things I’m digging:

    1. Spotify. $10 a month for unlimited playlists on my computer and phone? Sold.

    2. Three day weekends. Enough said.

    3. Bob Harper’s Skinny Rules. Picked it up yesterday and I’m halfway through. AND I FEEL LIKE I CAN ACTUALLY STICK TO IT. The rules are so reasonable!

    4. Your blog. My new love. I relate so much.

    • 1. LOVE Spotify! We used it exclusively on our road trip to Florida.
      2. JEALOUS.
      3. I just finished reading it, too! I’ll be posting more about it in a few weeks.
      4. THANK YOU. :D

  4. I am so jealous of that pool! I still give my mom crap for waiting until I moved out to buy a house with one.

    Things I’m digging –

    1. Your quinoa Greek salad recipe – I’ve made it 3 times in the past two weeks because it’s too hot to cook otherwise. (I also add shrimp and white beans yum yum.)

    2. Those disgusting freeze pops that are pure HFCS and food coloring and 99 cents for a pack of 24. Can’t stop eating them!

    3. Painting my toenails a new color every other day. I’m easily amused.

    • OH MY GOSH. Must add shrimp and beans to my salad! That sounds SO good!

  5. I want to live in your house! It’s so pretty and A POOL?!!?!?! Plus peach salsa is there! What is not to love? :)

    • Thank you! :) We love, love, love it!

  6. I’m digging my AC- this heat on an 8 month preggo lady is MISERABLE!!! We have a pool but didn’t get it put up this year. Go figure, the hottest year ever.

    • OH man, I love my A/C something fierce! I’m right there with you (well, minus the whole 8 months pregnant thing).

  7. I’m convinced that there is crack in Cookie Butter because it’s SO addicting.

  8. I took a train across Canada and they had chicken and peach salsa! IT WAS SO GOOD! Actually… all the food on that trip was beyond good.
