introducing: the broken plow

Posted on Jul 13, 2012 in Career

I teased a few weeks ago that Babyface and I were toying with the idea of starting a new blog to cover our adventures into home improvement, DIY and decorating. Well, after weeks and weeks of late nights to get the ball rolling, we are very, very excited to introduce you guys to The Broken Plow!

A few of you may be thinking, “Well why start a new blog? I’d love to read about that stuff on BTHR!” Well, the truth is, not everyone is as interested in our paint-covered adventures. It wasn’t that long ago that I was a renter and I found the world of DIY totally boring. So we figured we’d give you the choice. Read or don’t (although we really, really hope you will).

Also, it was important to me that it be a joint project between me and Babyface (who I am actually calling “Craig” when I write about him on TBP. It’s weird.). Even though Babyface shows up here every now and again to play bartender, BTHR is definitely my baby. A baby that I love with every single piece of my soul, but still just mine. We wanted this to be ours! And honestly, it’s been awesome to see Babyface catch the blogging bug. He loves it! It has been so much fun doing this together.

So feel free to come on over, add us to your Google Readers and hold our hands as we figure out this whole home ownership thing. The blog is still a work in progress, but we hope you’ll stick around and watch us grow. And don’t worry about BTHR, I’ll still be popping in here eight times a week to share all of my normal ramblings.

Have you ever done a big project with your spouse? How’d it turn out?

P.S. Curious about the name? Check out the backstory here.

  1. Oooh, fun! I’ll be living vicariously through you since I live in a rented apartment. Lots more of those mood boards! Big LIKE. Added to my Reader Feed already!

  2. You two are stinkin’ adorable!!! Seriously.

I’ve added you to my outlook RSS feed so I’m looking forward to reading about your home ownership escapades!

  3. Such a cute couple! I’ll check out your new blog!

  4. YAY! So exciting. I can’t wait to read it! Looks like I have a lot to catch up on. :) Also, I am so glad you AND Craig are blogging together. I love how your writing styles differ, and you really compliment each other!

  5. Can’t wait to be an avid reader over at The Broken Plow as well! I am definitely one of those apartment dwellers who has a hard time reading about home ownership (partially out of jealously, and partially out of a lack of interest), but I’m already so excited and interested in your life and house buying that I can’t wait to read this blog!

  6. I’m looking forward to reading about your home ownership/remodeling adventures!!

  7. This is why I like you so. My husband and I are in the middle of a HUGE gutting type remodel. I just recently got a kitchen after almost 9 months of doing dishes in a bucket. Beautiful things come from hard work (included stronger marriages). So excited for the new blog!

  8. Hello! Yes I have done projects with my husband! We built a house, moved and have been renovating the one we currently live in for the past 5 years. Which is why there are exposed beams and unpainted sheetrock in the backround of some of my older blog photos. The secret formula? My husband is my best friend. I don’t just say that he is like most married couples do, but he actually is. I suspect you are the same. The result is stress, but lots of fun. Enjoy this time! Now we are renovating with three small children-one and infant-and it was WAY easier (obviously-it never hurts to state the obvious)when it was just the two of us. Have fun. Be fearless with color. And embrace the chaos!

Yay! I love comments! What I don't love? Personal attacks, rudeness or general yuckiness, so keep it cool, kids. Don't see your comment immediately? That's probably 'cuz it's being held in moderation. I'll release it from jail as soon as possible. Required fields are marked *
