things i’m digging…

1. My egg poaching pan.

After my grandmother passed away last summer, we divvied up all of her kitchenwares between the grandkids. All of the stuff I claimed went into a box that was stored until we moved into the house. We’ve started unpacking and discovered this very well-loved egg poaching pan! I’ve been using it all the time. Poached eggs are so amazing. A great way to get protein in the morning and no added fats from cooking. I love soft-poaching two eggs and serving them over a slice of Ezekiel toast. Yum!

2. Real CocoAloe.

I’m a big fan of coconut water, and I think this brand is my favorite. It’s weird. Like, really weird. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for coconut water first timers. It has chunks of aloe pulp and the flavor tastes a little bit like coconut-flavored white chocolate mixed with tortilla chips. Weird, right? But way addictive. I can’t stop thinking about it. I found it at Meijer in their “New Age Beverages” section. I’m not even kidding. That’s what the aisle sign says.

3. Olympic Premium paint.

This past weekend, we painted our bedroom using this zero VOC, low odor paint from Olympic. It was amazing! No smell at all. I actually lifted the can under my nose and couldn’t smell a thing. It’s so nice to be able to paint a room, load back the furniture and not have to smell the paint for weeks. It’s a bit more expensive than “regular” paint but to me, it’s totally worth it to not kill brain cells.

4. The Olympics.

Duh. If you couldn’t tell from yesterday’s post, I’m totally obsessed with the Olympics. I love, love, love sports! USA! USA! USA!

5. Assisted Pull-ups.

I’m nowhere near being able to do a regular pull-up, but I love the assisted pull up machine at my gym! I keep going lower and lower on the counter-weight and my arms and back are feeling it. It’s such a great way to workout all the major muscles of the upper body. A couple of sets of pull-ups combined with a couple of sets of push-ups and my arms, back and chest are toast.

What are you digging right now?

  1. I’m loving the olympics too! Does your husband cheer for Team Canada or Team USA?

    • Canada first, but USA a close second. And I’m the opposite. The summer games aren’t really all that competitive because it isn’t Canada’s strong suit, but you should see us during the winter games. Especially hockey. Phew! We get competitive. :)

      • Oh man, hockey during the last Games was torture! We were rooting for USA, but we’re also Pens fans so we were like, well, if it were anybody BUT Crosby….

      • When Canada lost in that first game against the US, Babyface couldn’t talk to me for like two hours after the game. He was SO PISSED. Which made it hard for me to enjoy the victory! I want both of us to win. :D

I’ll withhold my feelings about Sidney Crosby… :P

  2. That egg poaching pan rocks!

    • Isn’t it? I love it! It makes poaching so much easier.

  3. I love assisted pull-ups. That’s probably the best way to build up the strength to do an actual pull-up.

    • I’m starting to wonder if I’m ever going to be able to do a regular push-up or pull-up. I feel like I’ve been working on them FOREVER!

  4. I went to a personal training session the other day and holy cow, those pull ups are no joke (especially the outer rings) he helped me but still. I’m feeling it; The good thing about the machine is the fact that you don’t get calluses. Keep working and I’m sure you’ll get them(:

    • I definitely still get calluses on the assisted machine! Even with body glide and weight lifting gloves.

And thank you! I will. Someday. :)

  5. That egg poaching pan is so cool! I’ve never seen anything like that, I had no idea something like that even existed.

    • I don’t love unitaskers in the kitchen, but an egg poacher is one thing that I LOVE!

  6. I love the pull up machine, too! It really makes me work hard and I feel so cool doing it. Nevermind the fact that I’m actually only lifting forty pounds, haha

    • Shhhhhh, no one needs to know how much you are lifting. :P
