things i’m digging…

1. Swagbucks.

I am 100% back on the Swagbucks train. If you’ve never heard of Swagbucks, it’s a free digital currency site where you can earn prizes. Basically you do all the things you normally do online like search the web and shop, but do it through their site. By doing this, you earn digital points called Swagbucks. You then trade in those Swagbucks for prizes. Two years ago, I was able to redeem my Swagbucks for almost $400 in Amazon gift cards, which I then used to help pay for Christmas gifts. It’s totally legit and an awesome way to earn a little extra something on the side. Highly recommended.

2. My planner.

After years of struggling to find a planner that I liked, I finally decided to bite the bullet and make my own. I love paper planners (mostly because I love doodling on them), but I’ve never really found one that “fit” with my lifestyle. So I’ve been tweaking this one for weeks, printing out a week at a time, working with it, making changes, etc. And I think I’m finally to a point that I’m ready to print it and have it bound. It has spots for appointments, to-dos, workouts, menu-planning, and blog posts. And my favorite part, a weekly tracker for health goals (like tracking food, drinking water, and workouts). It’s pretty much perfectly designed for me. Yay! I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner.

3. Our new CSA.

I’m going to write a whole post on this next week, but we joined a new year-round CSA this past week and it’s amazing. We’ve been members of different CSAs for years, but this one’s model is totally different and totally amazing. We’re in love. My favorite part? We can add/change our order at anytime. Need an extra dozen eggs? Just add it on the website. Want to hold it for a week because were on vacation? Just go the website and they’ll credit your account for the next week. Want to add an extra bunch of kale? Done. It’s basically like an online grocery delivery company and CSA got together and had a baby. And we can get everything from produce to cheese to syrup to desserts to fresh pasta. And it’s all local and amazing quality. We pretty much don’t have to go grocery shopping anymore. Love.

4. Snow!

me puppyface snow We’ve been pretty low on the snowfall for the last few winters, but this past week has more than made up for it! We got a couple of inches on Boxing Day, then about four more a few days later and then another few inches last night. We’re in a beautiful winter wonderland! We’re having a blast sledding and watching Puppyface frolic through the powder. And sledding is a kick-ass workout when you have to hike back up the kind of hills we have on our property. Sledding > going to the gym.

 5. De-Christmasing.

christmas ornaments

You all know I love, love, love Christmas, but I also love, love, love stripping all the decorations away afterward. It feels so nice to clean everything out and make everything fresh and new for the new year. Christmas decorations make everything feel all warm and cozy and full, but there is something really refreshing about the simplicity of your house after all the decorations are stripped away. It’s almost like it’s the first sign of Spring! Almost.

What are you digging?

Any chance you’ll be sharing your planner as a download? It looks awesome and very useful! And get out of town with that CSA – amazing! Wish we had something like that near us.

I haven’t decided on the planner yet. I was thinking about possibly selling it, but I don’t know. It’s so highly customized for me, I’m not sure if it’ll really work for folks. I dunno, I’m still thinking about it.

So jealous about the CSA! I wonder if we have any around here like that? Lucas and I did one 2 summers ago but I was so over kale by the time it was done.. lol…..

That planner looks amazing, being a designer must be so good for stuff like that! I’m still enjoying my Christmas tree and decorations, I only properly got them up on Christmas Eve and they don’t come down until Twelfth Night, so just the rest of the week to go. I’m really looking forward to getting back to my normal routine and eating more vegetables, I’ve just hit that point where I need to eat all the green things, I seriously don’t want to see another chocolate!

Is there anything you’ve changed about the format of BTHR? I can always open the plow blog on my ipad, but within the past few weeks, I can no longer read BTHR on it. It goes blank. :-(

    • Cassie says

Nope, no changes! And I just opened it on my iPad and it showed fine. I have been having a few issues with my host going down, but that’d wouldn’t explain why you are just having problems on your iPad. You wouldn’t be able to see it anywhere if you were encountering host issues. Hmmm… Have you tried restarting Safari? Or restarting your iPad?

      • says

I have had issues reading BTHR on my iPhone the last few weeks also. It’s like the right goes blank but I can only read the left side of the page. It’s strange!

    • Adriana says

I second this, except for android. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get BTHR to open on my old phone. It would start to load, but then go to a blank page. I switched phones, and I haven’t had a problem since.

      • Cassie says

Weird! I look at it on iOS all the time (on my iPad and iPhone). I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for letting me know, guys!

I love swagbucks, too! I started it on my maternity leave when I had my daughter back in 2008… I have made hundreds! It seems in the last year or so I haven’t made AS much, but it is still free money for the most part! I can’t wait to declutter for Christmas, and I have a few simple Valentine’s Day decorations I may get out early.

    Hi Cassie,
I love your planner! It’s so colorful with plenty of doodle room. You should definitely think about selling it. I recently found your blog and am having a great time reading it, thought it was about time to comment. – Brooke

Ooh that planner looks so cool… You should share the printable! Right now I use Google Calendar for everything, but it’s not absolutely perfect for me, I have to admit. But I love that I’m able to access it from everywhere, which is really helpful when I need to make plans when I’m out-and-about.
