find out who you are + win $50!
Regardless of how much pleading and prodding I did, my parents never shelled out the cash for me to subscribe to all of the teen magazines when I was younger. My three older siblings were in college. They had a bit more important things to fund than my desperate need to find out nine new ways to crimp my hair. So I had to head over to my friends’ houses to get my Seventeen, YM and Teen fixes. My favorite part of those magazines was without a doubt, the quizzes.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with personality tests and those little predictable quizzes were just enough of the drug to feed my habit during my tween years. As I grew up, the personality tests I took grew up too. To get a certain scholarship, I had to take the Myers-Briggs (ENFJ, represent). To figure out where I fit in at work, I took a Strengths Finder test (top strength: empathy). And while I evolved past the “what kind of best friend are you?” quiz, my love for that kind of personality research never faded. In fact, my entire undergraduate thesis was actually based on how you can determine a person’s personality traits based on their favorite colors.
The funny part about all of those quizzes is that I could almost always give you the results before I even took the test. I guess I’m just not that complicated to figure out! I almost always score high on empathy, creativity, and sensitivity Usually something also pops up about being outgoing (although less as I get older) and driven. They all said the same things. Which is nice, but the question has always been, what do I do with that information? This is where a new personality-based, free, social media website, ArchetypeMe, came in. BlogHer brought ArchetypeMe to my attention recently and I thought it was going to be just another run-of-the-mill personality test, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out there is one huge difference—it actually uses the information.
ArchetypeMe takes your results and curates content for you based on them. And with that curated content, you interact with friends, discover new information about who you are and why you like the things you do, and interact with the internet through the lens of your archetype. To get started, you take a quick, free quiz and your archetypes are determined, and then, based on those, you get personalized webpages chock full of content that appeals to folks with your archetype. I love that! So often I feel like at the end of personality tests, the big question is, “Well, okay. That’s great, but what do I do now with that information?” and ArchetypeMe does that for you. ArchetypeMe gives you a starting off point based on your quiz, then you can add, delete, and change content to get to a really personalized, customized hub for consuming online content that is perfect for you. You can then come back daily to get more content personalized for you and your archetype. Very cool and very fun!
I’m going to be sharing with you guys what my archetype is (can you guess?) in an upcoming post, but for now, if you have a free few minutes, I encourage you to pop on over to ArchetypeMe and take your own quiz. Like I said, it’s free and fun! And I’d love to hear what archetype you are.

It’s important to know who you are because the more you know about yourself the greater you will feel and the better you will be at dealing with situations. If you don’t know who you truly are then how will anyone else? Thanks!
