what i ate wednesday: i feel great
You guys know what feels amazing? Healthy momentum. It can be so hard to start sometimes, but by the time you get a few days or weeks into a health upswing, it feels like nothing can stop you. Woohoo! I love this feeling! I’m eating clean. I’m exercising. I’m hydrating. I feel awesome. It can be so easy to forget how good this feels when I’m in the middle of a downswing. Next time I say, “Oy, with the poodles already I ate too much sugar and I haven’t worked out in a month and I feel terrible” remind me of this post and how awesome I feel because I’m taking care of my body, k? Onto my eats…
- My morning started off as most mornings do lately—with green tea. I tried a new green tea I snagged at Whole Foods and it was not yummy. It tasted like someone steeped rotten spinach. Gross! So I dumped that out and went back to one of my favorites—Jasmine Green from Teavana. So good. I just wish it wasn’t so pricey. Yowzas. I also skipped the sweetener this time around. Trying to seriously curb my sugar consumption.
- Babyface hooked us up with some yummy, yummy breakfast. Oats made with peanut butter, maple syrup, apples, cinnamon, flax, chia seeds and peanuts. Yum!
- Breakfast was so filling that I had just a snack instead of lunch. I love yogurt bowls so much. In this one: plain Greek yogurt, granola, strawberries, blueberries, chia seeds and a few chocolate chips.
- Dinner was a regular recipe in our house—Penne Rosa. We’re trying to use up as much produce as possible before we leave for Canada in a couple of days, so on the side, we had a big garden salad.
- After dinner, I sipped on some Chamomile Mint tea and had a big hunk of dark chocolate for dessert.
This week, I’m trying out the Lose It! app to keep track of my food intake and the Waterlogged app to keep track of my water. I’m really liking the interface design of Lose It! but I so wish it had water tracking in it—that’s where Waterlogged comes in.

Try steeping your green tea with a slice of lemon – I wasn’t a huge green tea fan UNTIL I tried it with lemon. Oh and I also found that it didn’t need brewing for long. I take the bag out and stow it on one side to use again – gross or economical? You decide.
I love green tea, just not that one.
It’s actually the first green tea I’ve ever found that I didn’t like.
Oh weird! It’s annoying if you’ve bought a box of the stuff and it’s not really drinkable!
Care for some support on Lose it? I’m in a similar place – just getting back into eating healthy and moving on a regular basis, roughly the same weight – and I’d love to connect with more people through the site. I’m finding it a great help to have those connections when things get a little tough. Your suggestion for dietbet has already helped with accountability for me!
Thanks so much. I really enjoy your blog!

Oh, I’m so excited you’re trying out LoseIt! If you decide you’ll work with this app, please add me as a friend: bleeb323@gmail.com
Unfortunately, I’m logging food but super inactive bc of a tonsillectomy. I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things and back to the gym, I miss my normalcy.
What is your go to snack to curve a big hunger pain? When you just need something you know will keep you full?
Where abouts are you going up North?
I just watched that episode of Gilmore Girls. I freaking love that show so much – my girlfriend has never seen it (GASP!… AND her namy is RORY) so we’ve been ploughing through the season on Netflix. Happiness at its best!
I love Teavana!! We just got one here in Kuwait and we’ve already spent a fortune…
I also saw that GG this afternoon.
I’m an every-morning green tea drinker too (coffee does terrible things to me!) and wanted to share my all-time favorite: Harney & Sons green tea with Thai flavors (lemongrass, coconut, vanilla). It’s amazing. You can purchase it at Barnes and Noble, or if you’re like us and live in a small town with no access to one, order it online. It is the best way to start my morning!
And cheers to eating clean!
Great job staying on the healthy track! Your eats look awesome! Especially that yummy penne rosa
I LOVE Lose It! It’s the only tracking app I’ve ever been able to make myself stick with. I hope you enjoy it too!
I think I’ve been dreaming about that Penne Rosa since I saw you talk about it earlier this week. I’m a huge tea drinker too. Rock on.
I also like Emily Owens, but it has already been canceled. I think next week is its last episode, which bums me out a little.
I love these posts! They always give me some fun new meal ideas.
That oatmeal looks seriously yummy.
