1. We built a new three-bin compost system this weekend, and I’m obscenely excited about it. Which is weird. Who gets excited about compost? Craig looked at me at one point while we were building it and said, “I wonder what 14-year-old me would say if I told him he’d be crazy excited about a compost bin at my age.”

2. I really want one of the BodyMedia/FitBit/Nike Fuel Band thingies just to try for a day or two. I swear I’m burning a zillion calories a day and taking just as many steps while cleaning, cooking, hauling sap and, you know, shoveling compost. I’d love to know what it actually boils down to. Although, I guess I could just wear my heart rate monitor for a full day and see what it reads.

3. I cannot keep track of the days of the week anymore for anything. It doesn’t help that Craig’s work schedule changes every week (and his days off are different each week). I pretty much have no idea what day of the week it is at any given time. All day Saturday, I could have sworn it was Thursday. Nope. Definitely Saturday.

4. I am so excited that the time changes is weekend! I love, love, love Daylight Saving Time! It kinda sucks in the morning for a few weeks, but having that extra hour of light in the evening is so amazing.

5. I haven’t painted my nails in at least six weeks. And when I did paint them the last time, they lasted all of four hours before some chore around the place ruined them. The days of glittery, pretty manicures are pretty much over for me. I guess that was a whole other life. Womp. Womp.

Do you have anything to confess?

Why not get a pedomoter app for your phone? Might not give you quite as much info as the dedicated tracking devices, but it’ll give you a ballpark :)

I would be insanely obsessed with a compost system if I built one too. We have an “Earth Machine,” which is just something that we bought. In fact, we have gone through two of them (one at each house) and will have to end up buying another one when we move! Perhaps we could make one… but I don’t see that happening.
I want a FuelBand or similar gadget just for a few days too! But, I get kind of number and gadget obsessed so I try to limit myself. I would be curious of the same thing too.
I flippin’ love your nails in that photo!

I can’t WAIT ’til daylight savings – that means the sun will set at 7 here next week, which means my husband and I can start doing post-work hikes again!

  4. says

I am so sad about daylight savings because I am such a morning person. I know I’ll love it in a few weeks once the daylight evens out again, but I am sad my morning run will be in the dark for a few weeks.

…love it! There are cute achievement badges and it’s really nice for looking at how active you are over different times of the day and throughout the week/month. I was obsessive about the stats/numbers for the first week or two, but now I just peek at it every once in awhile, but I DO get mad when I forget to wear it!

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, and I really enjoy it! You even inspired me to cut down on the coffee and start drinking tea. Turns out I like fruity herbal teas!

Finally commenting because no more sparkly nails makes me sad. My fingernails get ruined in a few minutes due to my own clumsiness or my retail job, so I stick with painting my toes! They are currently glittery orange. I’m in a color-for-the-season-you-want mood.

Oooh! That’s a good idea! Sparkly toes! :) And awesome work on the tea instead of coffee. It’s a battle for me daily, but it makes me feel so much better when I stay away from the java.

I have a fit bit that I loved, When I wore it. Being pregnant again I have lost my motivation to feep track. I really should put it back on, and get moving again not that I am not puking every day… I think I will charge it up tonight and slide it on tomorrow. I highly reccommend fit bit… Soooo much better than Body bug and sooo much cheaper!
